
Wellness Circles
Our wellness circles are virtual events that are open to everyone in the community. These Zoom events are facilitated by Dr. Dan Dickerson (Inupiaq) and are intended to be a space to share, connect with others, and learn about Native American culture and wellness.

1/10/2024 - Wellness Circle w/ Raul Garcia
Raul Garcia (Wixarika) works as a substance use disorder counselor. His presentation will focus on utilizing indigenous teachings and practices to strengthen our communities and enhance resiliency, with emphasis on teens and adult males.

12/6/2023 Wellness Circle w/ Brodie Sanchez
A traditional artist from Fort Hall, Idaho, Brodie has been beading for over 20 years and has made various works of art for politicians, celebrities, museums, magazines, and television. This event is to help educate anyone who is trying to reconnect with their culture and heritage through beading.

8/9/2023 Wellness Circle w/ Gregory John Spencer
Gregory Spencer is Diné and an enrolled member of the Tohono O’odham nation. He was raised in the Los Angeles area. He is currently a community member/facilitator for United American Indian Involvement. His interests include beadwork, porcupine quillwork, language advocacy, poetry, and enjoying his first grandchild.

7/12/2023 Wellness Circle w/ Kim Shuck
Kim Shuck is a silly protein, or more accurately a series of increasingly silly proteins. Shuck has done a number of things professionally: coffee monkey, professor/student wrangler, modern dance teacher, visual artist, poet tamer, poet, writer of math curricula, parent, event organizer among others. Shuck is solo author of 10 books and editor or edit curious of another 10. Currently Kim makes what laughingly passes for a living writing and talking about writing. Degrees, awards, reviews, death threats and all of the usual social lint that attaches itself to opinionated creatives pertain. Shuck is the 7th Poet Laureate Emerita of San Francisco.
