PAWNIK is funded by the National Institutes of Health through the Native Collective Research Effort to Enhance Wellness (N CREW) Program and comprises RAND, a nonprofit research organization focused on social and economic health and well-being of communities, and Sacred Path Indigenous Wellness Center, a nonprofit organization with the mission of engaging Native American communities in research, to provide consultation assistance in the delivery of evidenced-based treatments and traditional healing services in a culturally-appropriate manner. The N CREW Program supports Tribes and Native American Serving Organizations (T/NASOs) in conducting locally prioritized research to address overdose, substance use, and pain, including related factors such as mental health and wellness.
As part of N CREW, PAWNIK is publishing this Request for Applications for T/NASOs in the state of California to conduct pilot work to help communities better understand current needs and the ways in which the community would like to address these needs. We will award two pilot projects with up to $150,000 for each pilot project. Research led by Native American communities is essential for enhancing culturally grounded, strengths-based, effective, and sustainable intervention strategies, ultimately promoting healthy equity.
Eligible applicants are American Indian/Alaska Native T/NASOs in California. Please click the buttons below to find out more and apply by November 25, 2024. Questions? Email us at pawnik@rand.org.
